School is a place where kids generally and share germs, viruses, colds, and the flu. Swine flu, also known as the H1N1 virus and Influenza A, is easily spread between kids. Swine flu is spread by sick children who cough, sneeze, and touch shared surfaces. However, there are steps you can take to protect your kids and boost their immune systems without giving your children the H1N1 vaccine. What kids must do to protect them selves
- Teach your kids to wash their hands properly, thoroughly, and often. Kids may catch swine flu at school by touching desks, door knobs, and other infected surfaces shared with other children. Use hand sanitizers.
- Discourage your kids from touching their eyes, mouth, and nose while at school. Swine flu enters the body through mucous membranes such as the eyes, mouth and nose.
- Feed your kids healthy food. Encourage them to eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables to naturally boost their immune systems. Drink lots of liquids.
- Make sure your kids get plenty of sleep. A healthy, well-rested body is better able to fend off swine flu and prevents serious infection.
- Encourage your kids to exercise each day. Children that enjoy plenty of physical exercise will be healthier, have stronger immune systems, and be less likely to catch swine flu at school.
- Keep stress levels low. When kids are stressed out they are more likely to get sick, so make sure your kids are happy and healthy. Take no stress and live a happy life.
